Culture Project
For this unit student selected a culture in which they were interested. Then student researched and created a work of art based around the traditional style of their selected culture. Students then presented to the class their project, research and a short demonstration about the information/techniques they learned while creating their project.
Abstract Expressionism Sculptuer
For this unit students first learned about the Abstract expressionism movement. For the project student created their own plaster blocks for which they used the substantive sculpture method to create their own abstract forms that expressed an idea, emotion, or object.

To start this unit students learned about Elizabeth Catlett, a print maker who used her work to express emotion while draw attention to social problems. For the projects students started by practicing creating lino cut blocks creating a small patterned design that they then printed multiple times to create a final project. Students then created a second piece where they were instructed to express some type of emotion in their work.

For this project students were working with Juxtaposition by contrasting color with black and white, and realistic with patterned.
